BioFach America, América Latina and ExpoSustentat 2009:
In North and South America, organics hold their ground in the crisis
|
|
- BioFach America: High quality and satisfied attendees
- BioFach América Latina: A focus on sustainability and biodiversity
Boston and São Paulo were once again the meeting places for the international organics sector this fall. Both events ended with good results despite the economic crisis. From September 24-26, BioFach America provided information on new products and current trends, and then from October 28-30, the organics community came together in São Paulo.
BioFach America well-established among buyers 20,998 interested trade attendees of BioFach America at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center obtained information about new products and industry trends from 184 exhibitors from a total of 15 countries. BioFach America premiered in 2003 and was held in 2009 for the second time at the new location in Boston. Despite the financial crisis, which has hit the American economy especially hard, the event was undiminished in terms of the quality and satisfaction of the attendees. After impressive growth of 50% in the prior year, BioFach America saw a decline this year in the number of exhibitors and in exhibit space. "The general trend for organic products is unchanged globally and the response among exhibitors and attendees in Boston gives us confidence that we will grow again next year with BioFach America," said Frank Venjakob, Events Director at Nürnberg Global Fairs, which organized the dual trade fairs on the American East Coast together with New Hope Natural Media. "BioFach America along with Natural Products Expo East is the largest platform in North America for organic and natural products and has long established itself among buyers." A strong team: NürnbergMesse Brasil and Planeta Organico This year BioFach América Latina and Expo Sustentat brought together 311 exhibitors and 7,699 trade attendees in São Paulo. Under the current economic conditions, this is reason enough for satisfaction at NürnbergMesse Brasil and Planeta Organico – starting in 2010 the new foreign subsidiary of NürnbergMesse and the Brazilian consulting firm will organize the pair of trade fairs jointly. Ligia Amorim, General Manager of NürnbergMesse Brasil, sees its mission as exploiting and expanding the potential of the eco-sector through the two trade fairs in São Paulo. The General Manager of Planeta Organico, Beatriz Costa, stresses that more than anything it is the people – the farmers and their families – who are behind the success of the trade fair and the growth of the organics sector in recent years. Both expressed their satisfaction with the stable attendance figures, in light of the difficult economic times. In recent years, the sector has shown a marked trend toward professionalization. The accompanying conference program met with lively interest. The focus was on core issues for the resource-rich country of Brazil, such as sustainability and biodiversity, and on the trend in the natural cosmetics market. Future BioFach dates:
